Start with an assessment. Build on your response.

We look at how your body is functioning before deciding what it needs. We use neuromuscular work—targeted muscle activation and movement work—then retest your response. Your response—not a preset workout calendar—guides what happens next.

Movement and strength coaching with Jeremiah Stilwell in Arcata, tailored to your starting point and the activities that matter to you.

Understand first. Then decide what to work on.

The comprehensive assessment is a separate, paid appointment ($250), not part of either free consultation. It establishes a starting point, priorities to work on, and a way to compare your response.

Complete a health-history questionnaire beforehand. Jeremiah reviews it and asks targeted follow-up questions at the beginning of your assessment.

  1. Start with your history

Review your questionnaire and discuss pain or recurring limitations, injuries or surgeries, previous care, and what you want to do more comfortably.

  2. Look at movement and muscle function

Assess movement, muscle function, neuromuscular control—how your nervous system and muscles coordinate movement—and relevant limitations.

  3. Work on what we find—and retest

Try neuromuscular work, including targeted muscle activation and movement work, then repeat the check. Your response, including little or no change, helps guide the next step.

  4. Understand your starting point

Receive a written report and personalized Blueprint explaining the findings and where your plan begins. Future sessions build on this starting point.

You receive a written report and personalized Blueprint explaining the findings and where your plan begins. Individualized sessions ($145 per hour) then build on that starting point with neuromuscular activation, retesting, home programming, feedback, and progressive training.

This is a movement and muscle-function assessment, not a medical diagnosis. During retesting, you may notice less pain or tightness, a better range of motion, or a change in strength or control. Responses vary; no immediate improvement is promised.

Every session has a reason.

We’re not following a preset workout calendar. Each appointment builds on what we learned from the last one. We assess, make a change, see how you respond, and use that information to decide what comes next.

  1. Understand

    1. Assess

Discuss your history, what you have already tried, and what you want to get back to. Look at movement, muscle function, strength, and control.

    2. Identify

Look for movement limitations and compensation patterns to explore. Set a specific priority based on what we observe.

  2. Change

    1. Activate

Use neuromuscular work—targeted muscle activation and movement work—to address those priorities, rather than starting with a standard workout.

    2. Retest

Repeat the movement or muscle-function check. Compare comfort, range of motion, strength, or control to see how your body responds.

  3. Learn

    1. Practice

Try the individualized practice created during your appointment. Notice how movements feel between visits.

    2. Feedback

Tell us what changed between appointments: what improved, what felt difficult, and what still is not working.

  4. Build

    1. Adjust

Use your feedback and today's assessment to revisit anything that needs attention and change the plan where needed.

    2. Progress

Build on what is working toward the strength, confidence, capacity, and activities that matter to you. Each appointment builds on the last.

Every appointment gives us information that shapes the next one.

Practice between sessions. Bring your feedback back.

You don’t have to master your homework before you come back.

Your individualized practice is created during your appointment. Spend some time with it and notice what happens. You might feel better, a movement might feel easier or harder, or you might notice no change at all. All of that gives us useful information when you come back.

Why we typically start weekly

We typically start with weekly sessions so we can make a change, see how you respond, and adjust sooner. It’s a shorter feedback loop, not a fixed requirement. As you become more independent and need less hands-on adjustment, appointments can be spaced out. Weekly isn’t necessarily forever.

This is movement and muscle-function work, not medical diagnosis or treatment; it is not a substitute for medical care. We work within your medical team's guidance when needed.

You’ve tried things. Let’s figure out what’s next.

If you’ve tried physical therapy, chiropractic care, massage, exercise, or other approaches and you’re still dealing with limitations, that doesn’t necessarily mean you need to try something completely different. We look at movement and neuromuscular function, make a targeted change, and retest how you respond.

Movement and strength coaching can complement your other care; it does not replace medical diagnosis or treatment.

Training principles: Stabilize, then Optimize

Jeremiah is a Certified Muscle System Specialist. The Muscle System Specialist (MSS) methodology supports the assessment, neuromuscular work, and retesting process described above. This is a training method, not medical diagnosis or treatment.

Begin with movement, control, and strength work suited to your current capacity. Progress toward the strength, fitness, and activities that matter to you.

Who this is for

People living with chronic or recurring pain, younger adults returning to activity after injury or surgery, athletes, and adults who want to maintain strength, mobility, and physical independence as they age. Training works within relevant medical guidance.

More than feeling better for one appointment

  • Move with more comfort and control
  • Build strength and physical capacity
  • Feel more confident in your body
  • Return to activities you enjoy
  • Stay capable and independent as you age

These are goals we work toward, not guaranteed results. Your starting point, response, and feedback shape the progression.

Real client results

“I had left shoulder/nerve issues and headaches virtually every night for 5+ years — no lasting relief with sessions of PT, chiropractic, or meds. Jeremiah uses a non-invasive, gentle approach to identify & correct areas that need movement & strengthening. Session planning is based on assessment/reassessment each week. My headaches & shoulder issues were gone within 2 months. A miracle as far as I'm concerned. He's very motivating & a great coach.”
